Where Creativity Meets Engineering: A Week of Building Big Ideas
Some kids love to build. Others just need the opportunity to discover that they can.
At RAS Summer Camp, each week is designed as a themed Adventure Week — a unique, hands-on experience that gives kids something new to look forward to every time they come to camp. Families can choose one week or build a full summer, with 10 different Adventure Weeks offered throughout the season.
FUNgineers is one of those ten and it’s where creativity meets engineering.
This week is all about hands-on creation. Campers are given materials, challenges, and the freedom to experiment. They build structures, test ideas, and figure things out as they go.
And yes, sometimes things fall apart. That’s part of it.
Because this week is not about getting it perfect. It is about trying, tinkering, and trying again.
Through projects using everyday materials like craft sticks, connectors, and simple tools, kids naturally develop problem-solving skills without it ever feeling like a lesson.
They’re thinking like engineers without realizing it.
The Moment That Brings It All Together
At the end of the week, campers participate in an Invention Showcase.
Each child or group presents something they built. It could be a structure, a moving design, or a creative solution to a challenge.
They explain how it works, what they learned, and what they would improve.
And that moment. Standing there, explaining something they created, is where confidence really shows up.
