Campers will explore the basics of engineering by designing and building moving LEGO® creations, applying key concepts such as balance, stability, and force to create functional models.
Mechanical Design
Campers will learn mechanical principles, including how gears, levers, and pulleys work, and will apply these concepts to design moving LEGO® models that demonstrate the effects of push, pull, and gravity.
Critical Thinking
Campers will practice critical thinking by analyzing how different forces impact the movement of their LEGO® creations and experimenting with various solutions to make their models function as intended.
Focus & Resilience
Campers will develop focus and resilience by tackling design challenges, learning to adapt when things don’t go as planned, and persevering through the process of trial and error to refine their projects.
Fine Motor Coordination
Campers will refine their fine motor skills as they manipulate small LEGO® pieces, carefully assembling complex models that require precision and attention to detail.
Relaxation and Focus
Campers will improve their focus and concentration through hands-on building, allowing them to engage deeply with the task at hand while cultivating mindfulness and relaxation in a collaborative, fun environment.

Before Camp: Arrive & Thrive

Kick-Off: Introduction to the Day
Each day kicks off with an exciting introduction to the day’s theme! Campers will learn the key scientific concepts—like push, pull, and gravity—and get a preview of the LEGO® challenge they’ll be tackling. Our enthusiastic instructors will guide them through the day’s learning goals and show how forces affect the movement of objects.
Building Time #1
Time to roll up those sleeves and get building! Campers will dive into their first hands-on activity, constructing LEGO® models that demonstrate a key principle of motion, such as creating a simple vehicle that moves using a push or pull force. They’ll apply the day’s concepts while experimenting with their designs.
Bathroom Break + Waiting Games
After a fun-filled building session, campers will take a quick bathroom break. While waiting, they’ll participate in energizer games, keeping the momentum going and engaging their creativity in new ways.
Building Time #2
It’s time to start fresh with a brand-new build! In this second session, campers will take on a new challenge, designing and building something completely different—whether it’s a lever system, a catapult, or a new type of moving vehicle. They’ll experiment with different mechanisms to see how forces can change the direction, speed, and motion of their LEGO® creations.
Reflect & Share
Campers will gather to share their completed builds with the group. This is an opportunity to reflect on their designs, discuss how they applied the principles of force and motion, and talk about what worked (and what didn’t). Sharing their creations helps strengthen communication skills and boosts confidence in problem-solving and critical thinking.
