About Summer Camp Programs
How are the activities tailored to different age groups or skill levels?
Our activities are designed to be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of various age groups and skill levels. In larger group settings, we’ll organize activities to engage everyone. Still, we can also break into smaller groups based on similar age ranges or skill levels to ensure a more personalized experience.
Each activity is thoughtfully planned to allow for modifications. For example, we can simplify activities for younger participants, like kindergartners, by focusing on foundational skills, while making them more challenging and complex for older students, like fifth graders, to keep them engaged and learning.
Additionally, our staff is trained to observe and respond to the needs of individual participants. Maintaining a balance between structure and flexibility creates an environment where all participants, regardless of age or skill level, can have fun, learn, and grow.
How much outdoor vs. indoor time do kids get?
During the summer, we make the most of the season by spending as much time outdoors as possible, weather permitting. Outdoor activities include sports, team games, nature exploration, and water play to embrace the summer experience fully. At the same time, we maintain a well-balanced schedule with a mix of outdoor and indoor activities. This balance ensures kids stay active, engaged, and comfortable throughout the day while allowing us to adapt to weather changes or individual needs. Our goal is to create a dynamic, fun, and enriching experience, no matter where the activities take place!
Will my child have time for free play or downtime during the camp day?
Yes, your child will absolutely have time for free play and downtime during the camp day. We believe in balancing and rounding out our schedule to fit the needs of every child.
After a fun-packed morning filled with games, activities, and engagement, we transition to lunchtime, followed by unwind time. During this period, kids have the freedom to choose how they’d like to relax—whether that’s reading, writing, or simply taking it easy.
We also understand that every child’s energy levels and needs are different. If your child feels they need additional brain breaks or quieter moments during the day, they can speak with their counselor, who will gladly adjust the schedule to include some extra downtime. Our goal is to ensure every camper feels comfortable, recharged, and ready to enjoy their camp experience to the fullest!
What special events, field trips, or guest speakers are included?
Experiences are selected on a camp-by-camp basis because our counselors love connecting with their communities and bringing unique opportunities to life for your campers.
Imagine field trips to fascinating local museums, visits from the neighborhood librarian who inspires with stories and activities, or the thrill of a live reptile show! We’ve also hosted bubble shows, petting zoos, and more—the possibilities are endless!
You’ll receive an activity calendar packed with all the exciting details, so you’ll know exactly when these unforgettable events are happening. Trust us, your camper won’t want to miss a single one! Each day brings new adventures and surprises that make summer truly spectacular.
How long does Summer Camp run?
Our regular summer camp length is dependent on location. We run camps anywhere from 4 to 12 weeks, each with its own exciting theme. You can sign up your child for one or multiple weeks, depending on your schedule.
Specialty camps (Brick Builders with LEGO® Bricks, Soccer MVPs, and Masterpiece Makers) run for one week each, and they are held only in the morning (AM). If you wish for your child to stay for a full day, you can also register for the afternoon (PM) session of our regular summer camp.

Can my child attend both a half-day and full-day Summer Camp?
You can choose between half-day (AM only or PM only) or full-day (AM & PM combined) sessions. If you’d like your child to stay for the full day, there is no need to register for the half-day option.
What activities are included in the full-day and half-day camps?
Our full-day and half-day camps offer a wide range of activities, including sports, arts and crafts, group games, water games, and more. Each week has a different theme with corresponding activities, so every day brings something new and exciting!
Are the counselors experienced and trained?
Yes! Our counselors are carefully selected and trained to ensure a fun and safe environment for all campers. Many of our staff members are experienced educators and youth leaders passionate about working with kids.
Are meals provided, or should I pack lunch?
We provide snacks and water throughout the day, but we may ask that campers bring a water bottle. We ask that you pack a lunch and snacks for full- and half-day campers. Half-day campers may choose to leave before lunch and eat outside of camp.
What do I need to bring with my child each day?
RAS will provide two snacks for a full-day camp, but your camper needs to come ready with a water bottle, sunscreen, and close-toed shoes. Each camp will have special days where they may need a bathing suit, towel, and water shoes.
What are the age requirements for Summer Camp?
Children must have completed kindergarten to enroll in summer camp. Specialty camps have additional age-specific groupings, such as 1st–3rd grade and 3rd–5th grade. Let us know if you have any other questions about eligibility!
